" Escambia sheriffs deputies are looking for whoever is responsible for the death of a family pet. Investigators say a cat was thrown from the 16th floor of a condo after apparently being tortured. He was owned by a family who lives in this neighborhood a few blocks from here, but Mickey's owner says somehow late Friday night or early Saturday morning Mickey wound up on the 16th floor of the Emerald Isle. He didn't come back for his wet food Saturday morning around 9:00 am, he never misses his wet food. That's when Mickey's owner Fred Simmons knew something was wrong... He searched for days until he found out a horrible truth. "He was evidently flung off the 16th floor and hit an air conditioner. Parts of him were on the air conditioner. Who ever did this is someone really bad, something wrong with him is all I know." It's likely the cat suffered well before he was thrown from the building. A knife was found here on the 16th floor covered in blood and cat fur... The cat was discovered stuffed inside a hot tub filter... Blood was found in various place and there's more evidence we've been asked not to release... But so far.. no suspects have been named."
